2011 Open Golf Pool
The Royal St. George's Golf Club
Sandwich, England
July 10-17, 2011

My apologies for not running a US Open pool. A hard drive crash (back up your work, folks!) and work took precedence. However with Tiger dropping out and Weirsy and Vijay breaking their major participation streaks at Congressional, perhaps, I wasn’t in the mood. But along came Rory! What a great performance and bounce-back from the Masters. Hopefully we’ll see him or another young gun challenge for the claret jug. The pool is up. Good luck, and get your entries in now. Fore!

Congrats to Darren Clarke on his triumph at the Open!

Congrats to Liga Hanley, team At the 19th, on her first pool victory!

He played solid while Dustin and Phil failed to apply the pressure – a few nice bounces over bunkers and towards flagsticks helped too.

I turned on the TV today around 10ish AM and was surprised to see Phil tied for second place while he set up over his putt on 7. I was floored when he made that eagle and immediately began composing a mental apology to Phil after caustically dismissing his chances prevailing at the championship. He was looking amazing on that front nine. Luckily for me, he played the back.

To the pool, congrats to Liga Hanley, team At the 19th, for her first pool win! Open Championships run in the family it seems. Allsummaibingolfin, a Phil Richmond and Rob Panes team takes solo second. And Phil’s other team, Keyer Soze, finishes tied for third with Jim Fryer’s team Killer & Angel. However, with the tie comes the breaker. Phil’s winning score prediction was -7, and Jim’s was -8, so, by the slimmest of margins, Phil nabs third place. Congrats to Jim and his two entries that were very competitive all four rounds. (Note, not one of our top 3 picked Darren.)

Thanks for entering pool. Hope everyone enjoyed it.  We’ll see you next year at the Masters. Fore!!
