2014 Open Championship
Golf Pool
Royal Liverpool Golf Club Hoylake, UK July 17-20, 2014 Okay, PGA Tour. Time to step it up and provide us with an exciting professional sporting event. The previous two majors lacked a little something, and with the glut of world-wide sports dominating the news at the moment, the golfing world could really use a good show. How ‘bout another duel down the wire with two powerhouse players raining brilliant shots from all over. Or a cagey veteran who finally removes the yoke of “best player who has never ….”. Maybe even a little Van de Veldian hijinks. I’m hoping we’ll see all three. I trust everyone’s summer is going well. I know a lot of you are “pooled” out by now, but in case you need to recoup your World Cup losses, I proudly present the 2014 Open Championship Golf Pool. Good luck, and get your entries in now. Fore! Congrats to Rory McIlroy,
Champion Golfer
of the Year!
Congrats to Bryden Suits, Champion Poolie of the Year! |

Pool News: July 20,
2014 - 3:00 PM.
Well, not a bad way to
spend a Sunday morning and afternoon. Lots of birdies and eagles out
there, which didn’t make it a forgone conclusion and kept me
viewing. Sergio seemed to have something on the front nine, but nothing
other than a perfect round would’ve even come close to
frightening Rory. I’ll hand it to Rickie, who hung in there,
too,
and played fairly well under final round major stress, something
he’s getting quite used. But hats off to Rory. Just great
solid
play. To the pool, and a lot closer in our compeition. Tied for first place was our 2nd and 3rd round leader, Chris Greene, and his team Greene on the Green, with 1st Round leader Bryden Suits and team mo money, mo martins. Both teams ended at -84. We need to go to the winning score pick, and Chris selected -12; Bryden had -13! So, by a margin of one-winning- score-pick stroke, Bryden takes the prize. Congratulations, Bryden. And well-done, Chris. Very close. Picking up third place money is Colum McAuley’s team Coolum. I have double-checked the scores and I think everything looks well. Please let me know if you catch something. All fourth round results are available here or at the link below. Hope everyone enjoyed the pool, and maybe we’ll completely the pool slam at Valhalla.
