2014 US Open Golf Pool
Pinehurst No. 2
Village of Pinehurst, North Carolina
June 12-15, 2014

It comes as no surprise that Tiger has officially pulled out of the US Open. His back is still on the mend and perhaps we might not see him play the rest of the year, unfortunately. However, now that Rory has unencumbered himself with details on wedding menus, seating arrangements, guest list, etc., he seems rather focused on returning to form.  Could another US Open be in his future?  And, of course, we have the story of Phil and his quest for the career Grand Slam.

Speaking of grand slams, I had a brief idea of skipping the US Open pool this year, but your reigning 2014 Masters champion was disappointed upon hearing the news, and that he wouldn’t have the opportunity to pull off the pool slam if that was the case – a rather ambitious goal.

Anyway, for Shivas, and all you other poolies, the pool is on. Good luck, and hope your summer is going well. Fore!

Congrats on major 2 to Martin Kaymer, 2014 US Open Champ!

Congrats on major 2 to Candice Blake, 2014 Pool Champ!

Latest Pool News: June 15, 2014 - 9:00 PM. Once again, not one for the ages. In fact, I barely watched any of the final round. Social media was barely buzzing and only to mention that this was a yawner of a final round, with a few occasional notes that we should admire Martin’s dominant golf performance – perhaps they were NBC execs. Hat’s off to Martin for a truly great week. A well deserved second major for Kaymer.

To the pool, and it was a far closer finish than perhaps most might have expected. (These are the pools I wish we had real-time scoring – look for that innovation around 2018). We ended up with a tie between Candice Blake’s team Candy’s Guys and Liga Hanley’s team Teed Off, which means we must move to the winning score pick … and …… Candice, of course, picks the winning score bang on at -9. Liga was very close by at -6. So, hat’s off to Candice for her performance and second major pool victory. Congrats also to Liga Hanley who came very close to securing her second pool victory. Finally, moving in to nab third spot is Ryan Little’s team, Litzy. Congrats to all.

Hope everyone enjoyed the pool and the golf. All final round team and player scores available here. Maybe see you at Hoylake. Fore!
